This is one of my favorite pictures of my kids. It's the rehersal for Nichole's wedding. Her next oldest sister. Sarah Joy, was her bridesmaid. Being a VERY casual event (note Nikki's sweatshirt & jeans) to help keep the mood light (nothing like the stress of "48 hours and counting!"), Nikki had just looked over at Sarah and made one of her goofier faces at her. Sarah had been very somber, taking her duties very seriously, not wanting to "mess up" on the big day. She had just looked at Nikki, seen her face, and had to look away to keep from cutting up. The "veil" we had put on Nikki for the occasion made it all the funnier.
Yeah, I'm sure it's one of those "ya had to have been there" moments... but I was there... and it was funny It was such an enjoyable wedding. Everything that we thought had gone wrong, actually turned out even better than we'd planned or imagined! It was a great lesson in weddings that I hope to remember through all of them. With only 3 of 13 kids married, there are bound to be a few more weddings.
