This little one the kids named "Bumblebee"... yes, after the Transformers. She was second born. Wanna guess what they named the first born?
The pups are 8 weeks old now, and time to go to their new homes. Caesar was the first out the door. Such a handsome young dog, he's going to fill in with a beautiful coat like his sire's.
Several pups have been selected, and will go home just before Thanksgiving, so their new owners will have a long weekend to acclimate the pups to their new environ. The kids and I have worked very hard to give these guys a great start. I became the Dam Chef and provided her with balanced meals of raw meats, grated veggies, and the oh-so-fragrant green lamb tripe. For those unfamiliar with this canine culinary delight, it is the unwashed stomach of the lamb, therefore rich with natural digestive enzymes and still "green" due to the grasses the animal was eating. Of course there was also raw egg (for mom, not the pups), brown rice and whelping powder. We also use Nutro Natural Choice for Large Breed Puppies . This helps the pups to grow at a better pace (not too fast) to reduce the development of hip and joint problems so prevalent in larger breed dogs. We're fortunate that our dogs' line is very, very healthy, but as Goldens, we have to remain mindful of its possibility!
Video of Caesar's last playtime with his mother before heading home to his new family. He's a lucky dog! He'll have a big brother and get to help his new owner with their horses... going out onto the trails with them. It will be the life of a king for a dog. Hail Caesar!
